The old lighthouse, Grau du Roi's historic landmark
Grau du Roi's historic landmark was built in 1827 and lit in 1828. It is the oldest lighthouse in the region.
The old lighthouse is a listed building and was inhabited until the 1970s.
In 2019, it has been given a facelift.
Originally, it was the entrance lighthouse to the port of Aigues-Mortes. Too far away and too low, it was replaced in 1869 by the Espiguette lighthouse, which is still in operation.
